Between 5 January and 19 August 2026, IRCC held 49 Express Entry draws<\/strong> and issued 119,865 invitations to apply (ITAs)<\/strong>. This analysis is built on IRCC’s own published draw data \u2014 the same file that powers the official “Rounds of invitations” page \u2014 and it describes a system that works very differently from how most applicants imagine it.<\/p>\n

The single most important finding comes first: there has not been one general draw in all of 2026.<\/strong> A candidate with no French, no Canadian work experience, no category occupation and no provincial nomination received exactly zero of those 119,865 invitations.<\/p>\n

Two categories \u2014 French and Canadian experience \u2014 account for 83% of every invitation issued this year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

French: the largest share through 19 August, and cut-offs below Canadian experience, healthcare and trades<\/h2>\n

The 19 August 2026 draw was a French draw: 5,000 ITAs at CRS 382<\/strong>, the lowest French threshold of 2026 up to that date.<\/p>\n

The same week, the Canadian Experience Class draw closed at 523<\/strong>. The gap between the two main routes reached 141 points<\/strong> \u2014 the widest of 2026 up to that date. French cut-offs had fallen to 382, and Canadian Experience Class cut-offs had risen from 507 in March to 523 in August.<\/p>\n
